For some time I’ve been photographing a range of valuable antique items in the Exeter area. The items generally have values between thousands and tens of thousands of pounds and occasionally range into the hundreds of thousands.
These items are photographed in order to sell them, in that respect the images need to be faithful renditions of the items, colour accurate and so-forth whilst also been to be captured in a way that communicates their quality. The challenge is that the items on each shoot generally vary in form, size, finish and nature; but they are all photographed on location using strobe lighting, rarely does this work use any natural light.
