I like to think that one of the things that defines me, as a photographer, is that my work isn’t purely commercial.
Frankly, I’ve always had a bit of a problem with the whole ‘photography thing’ and I really can’t abide camera ‘wearers and wavers’.
I’m lucky to have good photography equipment and the photographs here were all taken with what used to be my main camera, a Nikon D810, but is now one of the backups. And these shots have all been taken with an old Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D, the cheapest lens I have, it cost me ninety quid. I’d seen it in a shop, thought it was really cheap but walked away. But the lure was strong, it’s now one of my go-to travel lenses.
We’d finished the photo-shoot in Belgium for Morbern and Karin had some work meetings in Paris. Well, it would be rude not to, wouldn’t it? There were also some great photography exhibitions on, Richard Avedon and Robert Doisneau, two very different shows but fantastic to witness.
As ever, cities are the place that you will find me walking, often with a camera, trying not to look like a photographer.
Paris is a total favourite.
