I think it’s fair to say that Quiescent are producers of specialist and high-end audio equipment. For them detailed attention to power supplies, high quality components and circuitry layout are key.
So, there was a moment when we were bringing the equipment into my Exeter photography studio that I looked at the Angry Birds sound box and the charity shop speakers that generate my studio sounds that I felt a need to throw blackout cloth over things.
My task was to photograph a range of items in different styles, product shots (the explainers) and hero shots (the emotives).
For me the task is not to light the product but to apply the light where I want it and only where I want it. Using light, diffusion, fill and negative fill this photography is about enjoying the design of the product and expressing that pleasure through the lens.
The images will initially be used on a website that is currently in development.
