Sometimes a quick response is required and a range of commercial photography skills are a must-have. In this instance high quality photographs were needed at short notice for a magazine so a quick early morning trip across the border from Devon into Cornwall and we were off.

A quality supplier of push-in and connector fittings has a newly commissioned manufacturing provision, extending its existing capacity in the South West. Part of the brief was to get up high in the cherry-picker to photograph the solar array on the brand new factory roof, but this was a ‘wait for the weather’ moment, there was plenty more to do. The first part of the job allowed the luxury of some test shots. It’s great to be able to try some ideas, I knew the client was already on-board but as photographers we walk into situations with different eyes, we see things that may seem mundane but communicate stories effectively. The man examining parts with a loupe, the sheer quality of the factory and the good working relationship of the staff.

There’s clearly extensive product shot work to be done in an environment such as this but in this instance we were targeting the core brand values that are expressed throughout the endeavours of the company. So the client received a large number of shots (some of which are shown here) including;

  • Hi-viewpoint building photography

  • Photography of plastics manufacturing quality control

  • Commercial headshot photography

  • Photography capturing corporate brand

  • Construction photography

  • Photography showing client commitment to renewable energy

  • Staff in the workplace photography
