“So, do you photograph laundries for a living?” asked the somewhat bemused maths student as she was attempting to do her own laundry.

“Well, I guess, at this moment I do.” This was my reply.

I then explained to her that the full brief was to capture all of the facilities for marketing and that the laundry shots were probably reassuring to the worried parents. I then tried to explain that when I was a student, we just found our own accommodation and it would appear that her mother had already had much the same conversation with her. I then reflected that I was probably quite a lot older than her mum but kept that to myself.

This was a tight schedule photography shoot. The rooms were being refurbished during the Easter break and there was a window of opportunity to dress a couple between the refurb completion and the return of the students’ belongings. No pressure.

The day was radiant blue outside, which as I’ve previously discussed, doesn’t make for easy interiors photography!
