Morbern Europe are long standing clients who design and deliver “sustainable, performance-based coated fabrics for premium upholstery applications.” Their base is in Wevelgem, Belgium, since you ask, they are just across the road from the Soudal–Quick-Step UCI WorldTeam cycling team. You know, the one that Remco rides for.

It’s not the first time that Karin and I have visited Morbern at home, but it’s always a pleasure. I have also photographed their products back in the Exeter studio too.

On this occasion we were travelling with a wide range of goals.

  • Headshot photography
  • Groupshot photography
  • Room-sets
  • Furniture product photography
  • Small product photography

The driving force to this work was their new website which has now just been launched, and, as ever, it’s great to see so many of my own shots populating this fantastic new website.

Behind the Scenes Photos

As ever, a lot of this photography is about problem solving as well as planning and communication.

To a point, I transport my Exeter studio to Belgium. Natural light is just not consistent enough so spaces, faces and things need to be lit. The board-room that started the day as a subject for photos, then became a studio for furniture products before becoming a board-room where new team members were welcomed. And then Bogdan and Anouk stepped in front of the camera for their headshots. Somehow we managed a groupshot in another space that then became another room-set to be photographed. We also set up a table-top studio to photograph sample swatch books that were needed in the following days at a trade event.

At the end of the day, we packed some pre organised sample sets that were photographed back home in blighty, these shots now head the product pages.

The team is lovely, the products are fantastic and we had a great time. What more can one hope for?

Thanks, as ever, to Karin who then invited me to her own corporate event in Paris in the days after this.
