A simple enough commission to take photographs of Exeter in sunny Devon?

Well, let’s make it clear, I don’t really do shopping. Sorry, although I had bought another Nikon a couple of days earlier in Exeter. And, as most photographers may know (intuitively), the hours when people are likely to be shopping are the hours when the light can be at its least engaging.

On this day though I was lucky, the sun persisted and shone an increasingly pleasing light as the afternoon developed. Having undertaken other commissions recently to shoot in the city centre I know well that moment when one looks up from the camera to find two queues of people either side politely trying not to spoil the shot, I wasn’t disappointed!

The images are simple enough, a document of the daily scene, the weather helped and I found a new perspective on Exeter.
